APGAssists Per Game
APG is total assists divided by games played — how many baskets per game a player directly created for a teammate.
Formula
APG = total assists / games playedExample
A point guard with 64 assists across 10 games: 64 / 10 = 6.4 APG.
Why it matters
APG tells you who creates offense beyond their own scoring. The classic playmaker signature.
In depth
An assist credits the pass that immediately leads to a made basket. In well-scored leagues, point guards average 5–8 APG; secondary playmakers post 3–5. Pair APG with AST/TO to see whether a high-assist player is also turnover-prone.
