PPGPoints Per Game
PPG is total points scored divided by games played — the simplest measure of a scorer’s output.
Formula
PPG = total points / games playedExample
A player with 312 points across 12 games: 312 / 12 = 26.0 PPG.
Why it matters
PPG is the headline scoring stat and the first thing a scout reads. Useful as a starting point — never as the final word.
In depth
Points Per Game is the most-cited basketball stat in the world for a reason: it answers "who scores the most" in one number anyone can read. PPG ignores efficiency, defense, and team context — pair it with TS% to see whether the scoring is high-quality or just high-volume.
