Formula

DRB% = 100 × DREB × (team minutes / 5) / (player minutes × (team DREB + opp OREB))

Example

A power forward with 88 DREB in 320 minutes, team minutes 480, team DREB 280 + opp OREB 80: 100 × 88 × (480/5) / (320 × 360) = 73.3%. (Realistic team-summed values would yield ~25%.)

Why it matters

A high DRB% means the player consistently ends opposing possessions on a single shot — the foundation of defensive efficiency.
