ORB%Offensive Rebound Percentage
Ships Pace-adjusted variant — Q3 2026
ORB% is the share of available offensive rebounds a player grabbed while on the floor.
Formula
ORB% = 100 × OREB × (team minutes / 5) / (player minutes × (team OREB + opp DREB))Example
A center with 32 OREB in 280 minutes, on a team that played 480 minutes total with team OREB 96 + opp DREB 244: 100 × 32 × (480/5) / (280 × (96+244)) = 32.3%.
Why it matters
ORB% identifies hidden possession-creators. A 12% ORB% from a small forward is more valuable than the same OREB total from a center on a missed-shot team.
In depth
Raw OREB favors players who play a lot of minutes on missed-shot teams. ORB% normalizes by available offensive rebounds and minutes, so a 10%+ ORB% from a forward is genuinely elite.
ORB% is one of the four factors of basketball success — extra possessions from offensive rebounds are pure bonus points.
